Law enforcers block international drug supply channel to Europe: group of criminals detained

Law enforcers shut down an international drug supply channel to Europe, detaining a group of seven criminals in Kyiv and Zaporizzhia who were smuggling methadone from Ukraine to the EU.
Under the procedural supervision of the Zaporizzhya Region Prosecutor's Office, a group involved in the supply of methadone from Ukraine to the EU was exposed. As a result of a special operation in Kyiv and Zaporizhzhia, seven members of the drug syndicate were detained. This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office, UNN reports .
At present, seven participants of the criminal scheme were served a notice of suspicion of completed attempted smuggling of drugs on a large scale (Part 2 Art. 15, Part 2 Art. 28, Part 3 Art. 305 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine),

According to the investigation, the drug business was organized by a resident of Zaporizhzhia and two of his relatives, who left Ukraine with the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Staying in one of the EU countries, they organized methadone trafficking from Zaporizhzhia abroad. They sold the drugs to drug addicts abroad.
They involved a couple from Zaporizhzhia in the drug business. They were entrusted with the technical side of exporting drugs from Ukraine: purchasing "goods" from suppliers from several regions of our country, searching for drug couriers, purchasing tickets and processing documents for traveling abroad.
It is noted that one of the couriers was exposed while transporting more than 1 kg of methadone on an international road trip from Kyiv to Europe.
Law enforcement officers conducted a surgical operation in the course of which three organizers of the criminal scheme returned to Ukraine. They and four other group members were detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
They have been chosen as a measure of restraint in the form of detention without the possibility of bail. During the searches of the offenders' residences and cars, the SBU seized computer equipment, mobile phones, draft records and cash.
