Japan's earthquake experts have warned that the country needs to prepare for a possible mega-earthquake. In this regard, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida announced on Friday that he would not go on a planned business trip to Central Asia.
"As the prime minister with the ultimate responsibility for managing the crisis, I have decided to stay in Japan for at least a week," Kishida told the press.

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.1 struck southwestern Japan on Thursday, a tsunami warning was issued for Kochi, Miyazaki and other prefectures, Japan's Meteorological Agency said.
UNN also reported that according to Tokyo meteorologists, the probability of an earthquake of magnitude 8 or 9 in Japan over the next 30 years is 70-80%. A significant part of the country may be affected - a tsunami of more than 30 m in height may hit its Pacific coast.
