Iran said it was close to reaching an agreement with Oman on shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, but stressed that additional conditions, including compensation from the United States, are needed to resume traffic. Washington expects an agreement soon.
Iran said that an agreement with Oman on control of the Strait of Hormuz is close to being concluded, but it will not be sufficient to reopen the waterway. Reuters reports this, citing an unnamed U.S. official, UNN informs.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that Iran and Oman are "very close" to an agreement on a new shipping route through the strait, but its restoration will depend on other conditions, including U.S. compensation to Iran
The publication notes that Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, named other demands, including an end to U.S. threats against Iran, a halt to aggression against Iran and its Lebanese, Palestinian, Yemeni, and Iraqi allies, the lifting of the blockade and sanctions against Iran, and the release of Iranian assets.
