Instead of political speculation, there should be a choice of the community - Brovary City Council member on the situation with the possible renaming of the city

A member of the Brovary City Council commented on the situation with the possible renaming of the city.
The community of Brovary should decide on the name of its city. This opinion should be taken into account, and, accordingly, it will put an end to various political speculations around this issue. This opinion was voiced by Oleh Chukanov, a deputy of the Brovary City Council, in a commentary to UNN.
Details
According to the deputy, there is always a political component in the issue of various renaming. Similarly, the story with the possible renaming of the city of Brovary to Brovari looks like a political fuss that the opposition is raising against the government. That is why, in the MP's opinion, the last word should be exclusively for the city's community.
"I am all for letting the community decide. And these moments should be controlled by the city council members, who should communicate with their constituents and convey this position further. Then it will be clear what people stand for: whether they are against the renaming or in favor of a new name. And this opinion of the community should be taken into account," said Oleg Chukanov.
Recall
At an extraordinary session, members of the Brovary City Council almost unanimously approved an appeal to the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk with a request not to submit a draft resolution to rename Brovary to Brovari.
This resolution was previously registered by a group of MPs led by Roman Lozynskyi, a representative of the Golos faction.
According to the mayor of Brovary, Ihor Sapozhko, there are three conclusions from scientific institutions of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine that the name "Brovary" is historical and should be preserved.
Residents of Brovary do not support the initiative of the Verkhovna Rada to change the name of their city to Brovari. This is evidenced by a survey conducted by journalists of UNN on the streets of the city.
