The Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to hold the defense, inflict losses on Russian troops, and maintain the initiative in certain sectors of the front. In May, the ratio of liberated to lost territories was nearly 100 square kilometers in Ukraine's favor, and the damage caused to Russia by strikes in the deep rear exceeded $1 billion. This was reported by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, according to UNN.

According to Syrskyi, the situation at the front remains complex and dynamic. The most intense fighting continues in the Pokrovsk, Oleksandrivka, and Huliaipole directions.

Despite constant pressure from the enemy, the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to steadfastly hold the defense, destroy the occupiers, and deliver effective strikes against the enemy in its operational and strategic depth,

He noted that since the beginning of the year, the Ukrainian military has already liberated more than 600 square kilometers of territory.

Syrskyi also reported that during May, unmanned systems units hit over 88,000 targets, and according to estimates by the Unmanned Systems Forces Command, more than 30,500 Russian servicemen were neutralized.

Separately, he highlighted the work of Deep Strike assets, which in May hit 111 objects of Russia's military-industrial complex, energy, and fuel infrastructure.

Direct and indirect economic losses inflicted on the enemy as a result of Deep Strike operations in May amounted to approximately $1.058 billion,

According to him, in May, for the first time within a single operational plan, a series of successful strikes were carried out against military-industrial and fuel-energy complex facilities in the territory of Moscow and the Moscow region.

The Commander-in-Chief reported that air defense forces destroyed over 59,000 aerial targets during the month and repelled 25 enemy missile and air strikes.

At the same time, Syrskyi emphasized that Ukraine continues to need additional modern air defense systems and missiles for them.

In addition, the Navy in May conducted about 1,500 measures to ensure the safety of civilian shipping, which allowed for the passage of 633 vessels to the ports of Greater Odesa and the Danube River.

Based on the results of the monthly summary meeting, Syrskyi defined tasks for all components of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the upcoming period.
