The SBI has notified a serviceman of suspicion for beating his former girlfriend and burning her face with a cigarette. The court remanded the suspect in custody without the possibility of bail.

Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation have served a notice of suspicion to a serviceman from the Khmelnytskyi region, who is suspected of beating and mistreating a woman. This was reported by the SBI, according to UNN.

According to the investigation, in late August 2025, the man was serving at a position in the Khmelnytskyi region and invited an acquaintance there, with whom he had previously been in a relationship. She arrived with a friend, unaware that the location was a military duty station.

After the women entered the dugout, the group had dinner and consumed alcohol. One of the women felt unwell and went outside. Following this, the suspect was left alone with his former partner.

According to the investigation, the soldier began demanding the restoration of their relationship and sexual intimacy. After she refused, he beat the woman. The SBI notes that the beating lasted for over half an hour

Afterward, the man, knowing that the victim works in the modeling business, burned her face with a cigarette butt. Experts established that the woman suffered numerous bruises, abrasions, severe physical pain, and psychological suffering.

The individual was served a notice of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 127 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – torture. The court ordered a preventive measure in the form of detention without the right to post bail.

The sanction of the article provides for 3 to 6 years of imprisonment. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
