SBI announced suspicion of torture and shooting in Kharkiv involving TCR military personnel

The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) reported suspicion of torture and shooting in Kharkiv involving military personnel of the Territorial Recruitment Center (TCR), the SBI announced on Wednesday, writes UNN.

SBI employees reported suspicion to a group of servicemen from one of the district territorial recruitment centers in Kharkiv, as well as military personnel from other units who acted jointly.

- reported the SBI.

"Among the defendants is a TCR major who held a leadership position and directed the actions of his accomplices. To carry out criminal activities, the major involved servicemen from the security unit of the same center, as well as servicemen whose authority included recruiting candidates for military units for further military service under mobilization," the statement reads.

According to the investigation, the defendants, under the pretext of "carrying out notification measures and conscripting citizens for military service during mobilization," broke into a private household. "During the so-called 'search,' the accomplices introduced themselves as SBU employees and, using physical force and threatening civilians with weapons, demanded that they confess to involvement in criminal activities related to the sale of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. When one of the men tried to resist, they opened fire on him, causing him a gunshot wound," the SBI reported.

After that, two victims, as reported by the SBI, "were forcibly taken to the TCR premises, where they were held for a long time, beaten, threatened with weapons, and forced to provide information in which the accomplices were interested." "In addition, the defendants forced one of the victims to sign documents, including those canceling his deferment from mobilization," the SBI indicated.

Eventually, one of the men, it is noted, was released, while the other managed to escape on his own.

The investigation established that 6 individuals were involved in the actions, acting jointly, according to a pre-developed and agreed-upon plan. Some of them are TCR servicemen, others are military personnel from other units. The defendants have been notified of suspicion of torture committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy.

The sanctions of the articles provide for up to 10 years of imprisonment.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. All circumstances of the incident and other persons who may be involved in the crime are being established.
