On April 21, at 06:30, an anonymous report was received by the police about the inappropriate behavior of a man in the village of Mykolaivka, Synelnykove district. It was reported that the local resident was heavily intoxicated and claimed to possess two grenades.
Police immediately arrived at the scene and began negotiations with the man. During the conversation, he stated that he had turned on the gas supply in the premises, thereby creating a real threat of explosion and danger to the lives of people in neighboring houses, the police indicated.
To prevent further escalation and eliminate the threat to civilians, police began the arrest.
In response, the man threw two explosive devices at law enforcement officers. One of them did not detonate, the other exploded. Five police officers were injured in the explosion
All of them, as stated, received shrapnel wounds of varying severity and were hospitalized, where they are receiving necessary medical care.
"Despite their injuries, police officers detained the local resident, born in 1991. During the inspection of the explosion site, fragments of grenades and their fuses were seized," the police noted.
Currently, an investigative and operational group, explosives experts, and other specialized services are working at the scene. All circumstances of the incident are being established, and the issue of legal qualification is being resolved.
