Commander of the 211th Pontoon and Bridge Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is under investigation, new suspicion announced

The commander of the 211th Pontoon and Bridge Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleh Poberezhniuk, has been served a new suspicion notice for inaction. He did not respond to the facts of abuse of servicemen from February to July 2024.

According to the investigation, the commander of the 211th Pontoon and Bridge Brigade of the Armed Forces Support Forces did not respond to the facts of inhuman treatment and torture of his subordinates. This is reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, UNN reports .

Oleh Poberezhniuk was served a notice of suspicion on the fact of inaction of the military authorities committed under martial law or in a combat situation (Part 4 of Article 426 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation,  the suspect did not respond to the facts of inhuman treatment and torture of servicemen under his command.

From February to July 2024, he knew that a platoon commander subordinate to him was abusing his subordinate soldiers in excess of his authority.

However, the brigade commander did not initiate the issue of bringing the officer to justice.

Law enforcement officers conducted searches at the place of residence of the brigade commander. Currently, the commander of the 211th Pontoon and Bridge Brigade has been detained, and the issue of choosing a measure of restraint is being decided.
