The UK Ministry of Defense and BAE Systems have signed an agreement on the repair and maintenance of L119 guns in Ukraine at British expense. This was announced by the Minister of Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshin, reports UNN.
The second extremely important agreement signed at the UK-Ukraine Defense Partnership Conference is an agreement between BAE Systems and the UK Ministry of Defense to repair L119 guns in Ukraine at British expense
According to him, this agreement will reduce logistics for the Defense Forces, as previously the repair and maintenance of this equipment took place abroad and took a lot of time. Secondly, as the minister pointed out, the agreement attracts partner funds and keeps them in Ukraine. And thirdly, the L119 is one of 17 systems manufactured by BAE Systems that are used in Ukraine, and in the future we will talk about expanding the range of equipment that is serviced domestically.
Kamyshin also emphasized that the deal is the first step towards localization of production, which, according to Gabby Costigan, Managing Director of BAE Systems' Business Development Group, is the company's ultimate goal.
"These agreements will strengthen both our countries and our defense industries. They will promote, among other things, the joint production of weapons and military equipment and the exchange of technologies," Kamyshin summarized.
Ukraine and the United Kingdom have signed a framework agreement on cooperation in the field of defense materials. The government points out that today's step will bring British manufacturers even closer to starting to produce their weapons in Ukraine.
