The ministry's press release says that SPEAR, a new generation small cruise missile with a turbojet engine, has successfully passed the test after being launched from a BAE Systems Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jet at the Vidsel test site in Sweden.

It is noted that this is the first time the weapon was used against a target.

The department noted that the missile can be used against air defense systems, ships, tanks, fortified buildings, and fast-moving vehicles. The SPEAR missiles are to be installed on F-35 fighter-bombers, which will be able to operate from air bases or aircraft carriers such as the Queen Elizabeth.
