In the Dnipropetrovsk region, a man who was AWOL opened fire on police officers, after which he committed suicide, two KORD fighters were wounded, reported the National Police on Thursday, writes UNN.

"This morning, during a sanctioned search at the place of residence of a man who had been in the status of a person who arbitrarily left a military unit (AWOL) since September 2024, the suspect opened aimed fire at police special forces with a weapon, after which he committed suicide," the police reported.

The search, as stated, was conducted within the framework of criminal proceedings under Part 4 of Article 190 and Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The investigative actions were carried out by regional police investigators, operatives of the Department of Strategic Investigations, and with the force support of the KORD special unit.

"As a result of the armed resistance, two KORD special forces officers were wounded. Subsequently, while in the house, the man committed suicide by shooting himself in the head with a weapon. The police officers have been hospitalized and are receiving all necessary medical assistance. There is no threat to their lives," the police stated.

Currently, investigators, forensic experts, and other specialized services are working at the scene. The weapon has been seized from the scene. Documentation of all circumstances of the incident is ongoing.
