According to the publication, the airport’s operations were immediately suspended and flights were diverted. As a result, one cargo plane was forced to make a go-around. According to BILD, shortly afterward, approximately 6 kilometers from the airport at an altitude of 400 meters, it collided with an unknown object. The plane landed in Hanover, where minor damage was found in the front section.
The Lower Saxony police classified the incident as a crime concerning state security. A possible sabotage attack has not been ruled out. The Lower Saxony and Saxony police are conducting the investigation in parallel. The search for the drone operator has so far yielded no results.

The airport’s operations were suspended until 1:55 a.m. A passenger plane that arrived from Mallorca was diverted to Nuremberg, but later returned with its passengers and landed in Leipzig at 3:35 a.m., the airport’s press secretary, Montevon, told BILD.
The airport’s southern runway was closed, and investigative work is underway there. At the same time, police said that air traffic was operating normally on Wednesday morning, the airport itself was not closed, and there was no threat to the public.
