First Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal held a meeting with Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi, representatives of the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Energy regarding the installation of autonomous power sources in schools and higher education institutions. As Shmyhal noted, this is not only about the ability to generate electricity, but also the capacity to store it.
"We are building a new architecture for the Ukrainian energy system, based on self-sufficient 'energy cells' that are capable of functioning autonomously even during blackouts,"
The government also drew attention to requests from universities for the purchase and installation of equipment, including cogeneration units, solar panels, and storage systems.
"All universities must develop projects to ensure electricity and uninterrupted heating. For its part, the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Education and Science will assist in attracting partner donor funds for the implementation of such initiatives,"
Government officials also designated responsible persons from the Ministry of Energy for further coordination with the Ministry of Education and Science and partners.
"The performers are tasked with developing the main parameters in working groups that will form the basis of projects to increase the energy resilience of educational institutions,"

Earlier, Denys Shmyhal reported that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) sent another mission to Ukraine to assess the condition of electrical substations that ensure the stable operation of nuclear power plants.
