Due to the increase in electricity consumption as a result of the hot weather, today, August 19, blackout schedules will be in effect from 17:00 to 21:00. Electricity is expected to be imported from Poland, Slovakia, Romania, Hungary and Moldova. As a result of the hostilities and other reasons, 498 settlements are completely or partially de-energized. UNN reports this with reference to the Ministry of Energy and Ukrenergo.
Generation and consumption
Due to rising temperatures across Ukraine, electricity consumption is expected to increase, causing a shortage in the power grid. Today, planned power outage schedules are expected to be applied during the evening peak consumption hours - from 17:00 to 21:00. The restrictions will be applied in one stage
It is noted that no blackouts are foreseen for critical infrastructure enterprises, as well as enterprises that import more than 80% of electricity for their needs in accordance with a government decree.
The agency also urged to use electricity rationally and economically, especially during peak load hours - from 7:00 to 11:00 and from 17:00 to 22:00.
Import and export
According to the Ministry of Energy, electricity is expected to be imported from Romania, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, and Moldova throughout the day. The total volume is 19,928 MWh, with a maximum capacity of up to 1,234 MW in some hours.
There is no export and no plans to export.
De-energization
Due to the hostilities and other reasons, 498 settlements are completely or partially de-energized.
Due to the effects of bad weather: there are power outages in Kyiv and Ivano-Frankivsk regions.
Due to hostilities: there are power outages in Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Sumy, Kharkiv, and other regions.
For technical reasons, consumers in Vinnytsia, Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, and Zhytomyr regions lost power in Vinnytsia, Sumy, and Zhytomyr.
