NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte named the countries that are hindering Ukraine's accession to the North Atlantic Alliance. He said this after speaking at the Ronald Reagan Institute in the US on April 9, UNN reports.

These countries are Germany, Slovakia, Hungary, and the United States. Rutte also noted that this issue will not be resolved in the near future.

Mark Rutte also added that he does not believe this issue will be resolved at the collective level in the near future.

During the same speech, the NATO Secretary General stated that the main obstacle to Ukraine's membership in the bloc is political factors, not military or technical criteria. At the same time, the Alliance continues to support Ukraine and analyze the experience of a full-scale war.
He also noted that Russia's war against Ukraine has already significantly affected NATO's approaches to security, defense, and military planning. In particular, this concerns the re-evaluation of the role of modern technologies, unmanned systems, and the adaptability of armies to new types of threats.
