One of the two power lines of Zaporizhzhya NPP was cut off due to Russian shelling. The plant is holding on to the last power line, which threatens a complete blackout and a possible accident.

Zaporizhzhya NPP is on the verge of blackout for the second time in a week due to Russian shelling, the Energy Ministry said on Thursday, UNN reports.

"As a result of enemy shelling, one of the two power lines of the occupied Zaporizhzhya NPP was cut off. Currently, the plant is connected to the Ukrainian power grid by only one power line," the Energy Ministry said.

According to the Ministry of Energy, if the last line at Zaporizhzhia station is disconnected, "another complete blackout will occur".

This, as noted, is a serious violation of safe operation conditions and threatens to cause an accident.

"For the second time this week, Zaporizhzhia NPP is under a real threat of blackout due to Russian shelling. Today, the IAEA Board of Governors will meet in Vienna, and we insist on the immediate full implementation of the resolution on the return of the occupied plant under Ukrainian control. This is the only way to guarantee the safe operation of Zaporizhzhya NPP," said Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko.

According to the Ministry of Energy, power engineers will start restoring full power to the plant as soon as the security situation allows.
