What is celebrated on June 4 in Ukraine and the world

June 4 carries extremely important and tragic meanings for Ukrainians, as this day is dedicated to the memory of the smallest and most defenseless. At the same time, the world celebrates a number of medical, environmental, and informal holidays — UNN reports.

Day of Remembrance for Children Who Died as a Result of the Russian Federation's Armed Aggression Against Ukraine

This is an extremely painful date for every Ukrainian. The memorial day was officially established by a resolution of the Verkhovna Rada in 2021. On this day, the entire country mourns and remembers the little Ukrainians whose lives were cut short by the war.

International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression

This date was established by the UN General Assembly back in 1982. The Ukrainian Day of Remembrance (mentioned above) is specifically linked to this international day to remind the global community that children should never suffer from armed conflicts and to call for the protection of their rights and lives.

International Day Against Cavities

A medical initiative launched in 2013 by dentists. Its goal is to draw attention to the most common disease in the world and to remind people of the importance of proper oral hygiene and regular preventive check-ups.

World Speciesism Day

An environmental and animal rights initiative that calls on humanity to reconsider its attitude toward animals, renounce cruelty, and recognize the right of all living beings to a life without suffering.

International Corgi Day

A holiday dedicated to one of the most beloved and recognizable dog breeds in the world — the favorites of the late British Queen Elizabeth II.

Hug Your Cat Day

One of the most popular unofficial holidays on the internet. It is a great reason to set aside all tasks and give attention to your fluffy purring friend.

National Cheese Day

Although the holiday originated in the USA, it is joyfully supported by gourmets around the world, who organize tastings of various types of this product.

Thursday of Trinity Week (Green Holidays)

The continuous week after Trinity continues. During this period, traditional fasts on Wednesday and Friday are still canceled.

Memorial Day of Saint Metrophanes of Constantinople

According to the new (Revised Julian) church calendar, Patriarch Metrophanes, who lived in the 3rd-4th centuries and was known for his wisdom and righteous life, is honored on this day. The righteous sisters Mary and Martha (sisters of Lazarus) are also remembered.
