Ukrainians will be fined in Poland if their children do not attend schools and kindergartens

Since September, Ukrainian children in Poland have been required to attend school. For non-compliance, parents will be fined 100 zlotys, and from 2025 they may be deprived of 800+ payments.
Starting from the new school year, Ukrainian children in Poland will be obliged to attend schools or kindergartens. In case of failure to fulfill this obligation, parents may be fined and proceedings may be initiated.

The introduction of compulsory schooling for Ukrainian children in September will undoubtedly increase the number of children in classrooms, which will require higher class sizes. The Ministry, headed by Barbara Nowicka, plans to change the regulations on the organization of education, upbringing and care for children and youth who are citizens of Ukraine. Currently, 134,000 Ukrainian children are enrolled in the Polish education system, and this number may increase by another 80,000 in September due to the introduction of compulsory education. If the requirements are not met, parents may receive a fine of 100 zlotys, and from June 2025, such Ukrainians may be deprived of the right to receive 800 plus.
According to the current rules, the maximum number of students in a primary school class should not exceed 25, and in integrated and special classes - 20. Starting September 1, this limit may increase to 29 students, which will allow for an additional four children from Ukraine. There is no maximum number of students for high school and general education schools. The number of children in kindergarten and kindergarten groups may increase by 3, and integrated kindergartens may accept a maximum of two additional children with special needs.
