Two killed and six injured — Russians shelled the Sumy region nearly 70 times in one day

Two civilians were killed in Sumy region, while six more people sustained injuries and trauma as a result of enemy attacks. This was reported by UNN, citing the morning report on the security situation in the region.

Russian troops shelled the region nearly 70 times, with 23 settlements coming under fire.

In the Seredyna-Buda community, a 61-year-old man was killed after riding his bicycle over an explosive object. In the same community, a 50-year-old woman was killed in an explosion involving another unidentified object, while a 71-year-old woman was injured.

In addition, a 52-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man were injured as a result of mortar shelling in this community.

In the Krasnopillia community, a Russian drone struck a car. A 51-year-old man was injured.

In the Esman community, a 60-year-old man sustained injuries and trauma after an enemy UAV struck a residential building.

There was another casualty in the Shostka community: a 73-year-old man was injured as a result of an airstrike.

Overall, from the morning of August 22 to the morning of August 23, 2026, Russian troops carried out nearly 70 attacks on 23 settlements in 15 territorial communities of Sumy region. The greatest number of attacks was recorded in Sumy, Shostka and Konotop districts.

The Khotin, Mykolaivka rural, Yunakivka, Krasnopillia, Bereza, Hlukhiv, Esman, Znob-Novhorodske, Shostka, Putyvl, Buryn, Bochechkiv, Krolevets and Velyka Pysarivka communities came under enemy attack.

Russian troops used mortars, artillery, FPV drones, unmanned aerial vehicles and guided aerial bombs for the attacks.

Numerous instances of destruction and damage to civilian infrastructure were recorded as a result of the shelling. In the Bereza community, private residential buildings and civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged; in the Znob-Novhorodske community, a private house was damaged.

In the Romny community, non-residential premises and a bus were damaged. In the Shostka community, apartment buildings, a civilian infrastructure facility, an outbuilding, non-residential premises, a car and a bus were damaged.

A private house in the Mykolaivka rural community, a car in the Krasnopillia community and a civilian infrastructure facility in the Krolevets community were also damaged. In the Seredyna-Buda community, private residential buildings were damaged and destroyed.
