There is no shortage of electricity in Ukraine, but consumption remains high - energy officials
Kyiv • UNN
The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reports that there is currently no shortage of electricity, and that electricity production meets consumer demand, despite the fact that some TPP units are undergoing repairs. Electricity consumption remains high despite warmer weather, which reduces peak loads.
There is no shortage of electricity in Ukraine today. The maximum electricity consumption is decreasing due to warming, but the overall level is high. At the same time, no electricity supply restrictions are applied in any of the regions. This was reported by the Ministry of Energy and NPC Ukrenergo, UNN writes.
Generation and consumption
"No shortage of electricity has been recorded and is not expected for the current day. Electricity generation in Ukraine is sufficient to meet the needs of household consumers and enterprises," the Ministry of Energy said.
Also, as noted, commercial imports of electricity will be carried out during the day.
"Two TPP units have been put out for emergency short-term repairs. They will be returned to operation in the near future, so this situation will not affect the stability of electricity supply," the Ministry of Energy said.
They also reminded that it is very important to reduce the load on the power system during peak consumption hours (in the morning on weekdays from 9:00 to 11:00, in the evening from 17:00 to 19:00). Therefore, consumers were urged to save electricity.
Ukrenergo noted that warming continues to affect the level of electricity consumption. Yesterday, on December 18, it was more than 4°C warmer outside than on the previous working day, Friday, December 15. Accordingly, the daily maximum consumption on December 18 was in the morning and 3.4% lower than on December 15. But the overall level of consumption remains high.
Accidents and power outages
At night, according to the Ministry of Energy, there were technical problems with the operation of the 330 kV substation of NPC Ukrenergo in Kyiv region. Consumers did not lose power.
According to Ukrenergo, as of the morning of December 19, 132 settlements in Dnipropetrovs'k, Donetsk, and Kharkiv regions were without power due to the weather. The most difficult situation is in Donetsk region - more than 100 settlements have been without power for more than a day. Due to technical damages, there are reportedly consumers without power in Dnipropetrovska, Kirovohradska and Sumska oblasts.
Due to the hostilities and other reasons, 432 settlements remain without electricity. The shelling caused new damages to the power grids in Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kherson and other regions.

"There is a slight decrease in the water level in the cooling pond - it is 15.64 meters. This is enough to meet the needs of the plant," the Ministry of Energy said.
Import/exportImport/export
Electricity imports amounted to 6,371 MWh per day. There were no exports, the Ministry of Energy said.
According to Ukrenergo, there are no exports today. Electricity is imported from Slovakia, Romania, and Moldova for almost the entire day.
