The United Kingdom has recorded 35 days with temperatures above 30°C in 2026, breaking the 1995 record. Forecasters are predicting continued heat of up to 36°C, while the UKHSA has issued yellow alerts.
The UK has broken a 30-year record for the number of days in a year with temperatures of 30°C or higher, UNN reports, citing Sky News.

Temperatures exceeded 30°C in southeast England as the UK prepares for its fifth heatwave next week, while northwest Scotland received two days’ worth of rainfall equivalent to half the monthly average.
On Sunday, 30.6°C was recorded in Frittenden, Kent, and temperatures are expected to reach 32°C elsewhere later in the day.
Thus, the total number of days with temperatures of 30°C in 2026 will reach 35, breaking the previous record of 34 days set in 1995.
Meteorologist Tom Morgan said: "In Frittenden, Kent, temperatures reached 30.6°C. We still expect temperatures to rise to 32°C or slightly higher this afternoon."
Forecasters said Monday would be slightly cooler, but hot weather is likely to continue next week, with temperatures forecast to reach 36°C in some parts of East Anglia and the South East by Thursday.
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has issued yellow heat-health alerts for the East Midlands, West Midlands, South East, South West, East Anglia, Yorkshire and the Humber, as well as London.
The alerts are in effect until 21:00 but may be extended as the hot weather continues.
