The Prime Minister of Latvia: "If we want to live in a peaceful Europe, a peaceful Latvia, Russia must lose this war"
Kyiv • UNN
The Latvian Prime Minister emphasized that Russia must lose the war against Ukraine for Europe and Latvia to live in peace. It is the duty of the world to help Ukraine win this war for values, freedom, democracy and Ukraine's right to preserve its statehood and identity.
Latvian Prime Minister Eika Silinia emphasized that the world's duty is to help Ukraine win the war with Russia in order to live in a peaceful Europe. Silinia said this during a joint press conference with her Ukrainian counterpart Denys Shmyhal, UNN reports.
The Latvian society supports Ukraine because we see ourselves as well. We remember the struggle against the Soviet empire, against the evil of this empire. We understand the evil of today's Russia very well. We understand that there is a war in Ukraine for values, for freedom, for democracy, for the right of Ukraine to preserve its state and its identity. I believe that it is our duty and the duty of the world to help Ukraine win this war with Russia. If we want to live in a peaceful Europe, a peaceful Latvia, Russia must lose this war. That is why we have to stop its aggression with all our might
She emphasized that Latvia continues to contribute to Ukraine by supporting Ukrainians.
"We are helping both within the bilateral format and internationally. Today, we also discussed with the Prime Minister what things Ukraine needs. Latvia's support for Ukraine has already reached 85 million euros, and the total military support will reach 372 million euros. And as we have already agreed, this will be 0.25% of our GDP, and this is a good example for other countries to consider allocating such a sum to support Ukraine," Silinia added.
