Russian drones are entering Moldovan territory due to insufficient support for Ukraine — Sandu

Moldovan President Maia Sandu said that the frequent violations of her country's airspace by Russian drones are linked to insufficient support for Ukraine to intercept them; however, according to her, there have been cases when Russia deliberately directed drones into Moldovan territory, UNN reports.

"Moldova is seeing an increase in the number of violations of our airspace, especially this year. We believe that one of the reasons is insufficient support for Ukraine to intercept and destroy these drones," Sandu said.

She noted that in at least one case, Russia directed a drone specifically toward Moldova, rather than it having gone off course.

"This was not simply because it had flown from Ukrainian territory. Moldova has invested in intelligence operations in recent years. We have a better ability to see what is happening. We share all the information. But, of course, when it comes directly to countering these threats, the situation is somewhat more complicated, as we need to make significant investments," Sandu added.
