The head of the GRU confirmed the participation of the North Korean military in the war against Ukraine in the Kursk region of Russia. According to the White House, over the past week, the DPRK has lost about a thousand troops there.

Russia is still using North Korean soldiers in the Kursk region. This was stated by the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, Kirill Budanov, during a telethon, UNN reports.

"The participation of the DPRK military in hostilities against Ukraine is undeniable and beyond doubt. Russia is using them so far in the Kursk region. I hope this will be the end of it," Budanov said.

On December 28, Reuters reportedthat White House spokesman John Kirby said that the North Korean military is suffering significant losses on the front lines of Russia's war against Ukraine. Over the past week, a thousand of their troops have been killed or wounded in the Kursk region of Russia. 

On December 27, it was reportedthat South Korean intelligence confirmed that the Ukrainian military had captured a wounded North Korean soldier in the Kursk region. The night before, relevant information about the capture of the DPRK soldier appeared on Ukrainian media resources.
