Details

It is noted that the Romanian Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that from January 1, 2025, the country will close 30 land checkpoints on the borders with Hungary and Bulgaria, but selective document checks may still be carried out at the borders.

The Schengen area is a European space where border controls at the internal border have been abolished. The accession of the countries will facilitate the development of travel, trade and tourism

- the statement said.

According to the explanatory note, the abolition of internal border controls implies the need to strengthen measures to ensure public order and security, given that Romania is currently facing irregular migration, given its geographical location, at the confluence between the East - as a zone of migrant departure and the West - as a destination zone for irregular migration.

Recall
