Netanyahu: ceasefire does not apply to Lebanon

Four hours after US President Donald Trump's statement, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a statement welcoming the ceasefire between the US and Iran, emphasizing that it does not extend to Lebanon, despite statements to the contrary by Pakistani mediators, reports The Times of Israel, writes UNN.

Details

"Israel supports President Trump's decision to suspend strikes on Iran for two weeks on the condition that Iran immediately opens the straits and ceases all attacks on the United States, Israel, and countries in the region," reads the Israeli Prime Minister's statement, published only in English.

"Israel also supports US efforts to ensure that Iran no longer poses a nuclear, missile, and terrorist threat to America, Israel, Iran's Arab neighbors, and the world," the statement continues.

"The United States has told Israel that it is committed to achieving these goals, which are shared by the United States, Israel, and Israel's regional allies, in upcoming negotiations," the statement notes.

"The two-week ceasefire does not apply to Lebanon," the Israeli Prime Minister's office added.
