The court granted the motion of the lawyer of a law enforcement officer suspected of murdering a teenager at a funicular station to impose a preventive measure in a closed session
The Pechersk District Court of Kyiv granted the request of the lawyer of a law enforcement officer suspected of killing a teenager at a funicular station in Kyiv to impose a preventive measure in a closed session, UNN reports.
"To satisfy the lawyer's request to hold the court session in closed session," the judge said.
The judge also announced a 40-minute recess.
The suspect's lawyer requested that the hearing be held in camera because of threats to the suspect and his family.
"Because there is a lot of negative media coverage. And the negative is so serious that they are threatening to kill not only Artem (the suspect - ed.), but also his relatives, friends and acquaintances," the lawyer said.
The lawyer also asked for a break in order to give him time to get acquainted with the documents, new documents that the prosecutor attached to the materials of the motion for a preventive measure.

The prosecutor's office will request a measure of restraint for the law enforcement officer in the form of detention in custody.
According to the State Bureau of Investigation, on April 7, at station of the funicular in Kyiv, a conflict occurred between a man who serves as a driver in the State Protection Department and a minor. After getting out of the car at the upper station, the law enforcement officer pushed the teenager. He fell, smashed his head against the glass, and received a fatal cut to his neck. The minor died at the scene, the SBI said.
On April 8, a law enforcement officer was notified of suspicion of premeditated murder after he pushed a teenager who fell and died at a funicular station in Kyiv.
According to the Zmina Football School, the deceased was their 16-year-old student.
The SBI reported that a law enforcement officer suspected of killing a teenager at a funicular station in Kyiv pleaded not guilty. There are seven witnesses who are testifying in the case. The SBI confirmed that the man was drunk.
