"After the Ukrainian drone strike, a powerful explosion occurred, causing a chain detonation and a large-scale fire in a large part of the airfield," the source said.

 Local authorities confirmed the detonation and announced the evacuation of residents of nearby settlements.

Most of the planes stationed at the Lipetsk-2 military airfield did not take off.

"The SBU, in cooperation with the Defense Forces, continues methodical work to destroy Russian aviation logistics so that the enemy does not have the opportunity to bomb Ukrainian cities with UAVs. In early August, we cleared Morozovsk airfield of UAVs and fighters, and today it's the turn of Lipetsk-2. We are working on it," said an informed source in the SBU.
