Mindaugas Sinkevičius proposed to exclude Lomonosov's texts from Lithuanian school curricula due to imperial ideology and to include Shevchenko's works.
Lithuanian Prime Minister Gintautas Sinkevičius proposed that the country's Ministry of Education, Science and Sports revise the general education programs approved in 2022 and exclude from them the texts of Russian scientist Mikhail Lomonosov, who glorified Russia's imperial wars. This is reported by Delfi, informs UNN.

According to Sinkevičius, Lithuanian schoolchildren should not learn patriotism and citizenship based on the works of authors whose creativity is linked to Russian imperial ideology.
The head of government also proposed including the works of Ukrainian literary classic Taras Shevchenko in the school curriculum. According to him, this would help Lithuanian youth better understand the uniqueness of the Ukrainian people and the literary texts that shaped it
It is noted that the updated general education programs approved in Lithuania in 2022 drew criticism not only for their implementation but also for the list of recommended literature: concerns were raised then that this list included more Russian authors than previous programs, while no place was provided for Ukrainian literature.
"Critics called for including works of Ukrainian classics - such as Taras Shevchenko - in the educational programs, while the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports emphasized that studying works by Russian authors is not mandatory and teachers are free to choose works by authors from other countries," the publication writes.
