A drunk 17-year-old Kyiv resident took his grandmother's car for a night race in the Darnytskyi district. Police have opened criminal proceedings and penalized the parents.

Last night in the Darnytskyi district of the capital, a group of three teenagers staged a night race in a Ford Fiesta. Subsequently, a video of the event was circulated on social media. During the inspection, law enforcement officers found that the underage driver was in a state of alcohol intoxication; proceedings have been initiated, UNN reports, citing the Kyiv police.

As established by law enforcement, a 17-year-old Kyiv resident was behind the wheel, driving his grandmother's car without permission and taking two 15-year-old friends with him. During the trip, the underage driver flagrantly disregarded traffic rules, and police stopped him shortly thereafter.
During the check, law enforcement officers found that the underage driver was intoxicated; the "Drager" device showed 1.27 ppm. Furthermore, it was established that the young man had previously been repeatedly held accountable for illegal driving.
Based on this fact, investigators have initiated criminal proceedings under Art. 342 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – resistance to law enforcement officers, and Art. 382 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – non-compliance with court decisions.
Inspectors also filed administrative protocols against the underage driver under Art. 130, 122, and 126 of the Code of Administrative Offenses. Regarding the parents and guardians of the participants in the incident, administrative materials were filed under Art. 184 of the Code of Administrative Offenses – failure of parents to perform duties regarding the upbringing of children.
