Greece refuses to provide Ukraine with air defense systems

Greece refuses to provide Ukraine with such important air defense systems as Patriot and S-300, as they are critical for the protection of Greek airspace.

Greece will not be able to transfer air defense equipment to Ukraine, as it is "crucial" for Athens itself. This was stated by Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in an interview with Iefimerida, UNN reports .

According to him, Ukraine asked Athens to transfer Patriot and S-300 air defense missile systems, but was denied, as these air defense systems are critical to protecting Greek airspace and will not be provided to Ukraine.

Greece has supported Ukraine in various ways, with defense materials. However, we have stated from the very beginning that we cannot get rid of weapons systems that are crucial to our deterrence capabilities

The Greek prime minister emphasized that the country has surplus equipment that could support Ukraine.
