Government registers a draft law in the Rada to increase the number of border guards by 15 thousand

The Ukrainian government has registered a draft law in parliament to increase the total number of the State Border Guard Service by 15,000 people in order to strengthen border protection and ensure long-term border security after the war.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has registered a draft law in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to increase the total number of servicemen in the State Border Guard Service by 15 thousand. This was announced by the government's representative in the Verkhovna Rada, Taras Melnychuk, on Telegram, UNN reports.
According to the Government, it has registered the Draft Law "On Amendments to Paragraph 1 of Section IX "Final Provisions" of the Law of Ukraine "On the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine" (Reg. No. 11091)
Given the urgent need to form and build up the combat reserves of the State Border Guard Service as part of the defense forces and to ensure the readiness of the State Border Guard Service to take control of the state border within its internationally recognized borders in the post-war period and to respond adequately with the available forces and means of the State Border Guard Service to actual and potential threats to national security at the state border, the draft law provides for an increase in the total number of servicemen of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine by 15 thousand.
Addendum
In March 2022, the Verkhovna Rada passed draft law No. 7161, which increased the total number of the State Border Guard Service by 7,000 people to 60,000, including 52,000 military personnel, during the special period.
