German MEP assistant from AfD suspected of spying for China

A 43-year-old assistant to an AfD MEP was detained in Dresden on suspicion of spying for Chinese intelligence by passing on information about negotiations and decisions in the European Parliament.
An employee of a member of the right-wing populist party "Alternative for Germany" (AfD) was detained in Dresden on suspicion of illegal intelligence activities, including surveillance of Chinese oppositionists. This was reported by DW, citing sources, UNN reports .

Sources say that 43-year-old Qian G. works in the team of AfD MEP Maximilian Kra as an "accredited assistant".
Qian G. was detained last night by officers of the Landes Office for Criminal Affairs. The German Prosecutor General said that he was "an employee of the Chinese secret service" and in January 2024 he transmitted "information about negotiations and decisions in the European Parliament,
A representative of the AfD called the reports of Qian G.'s detention "very disturbing.

After the detention of two alleged Chinese spies in Düsseldorf and Bad Homburg, this is the second operation against Chinese influence in Germany in the last 24 hours.
