An explosion occurred at an ENI fuel storage facility near Florence, killing 4 people and injuring 26. Due to the high column of smoke, local authorities urged residents to keep windows closed within a 5 km radius.

On the eve of Florence (Tuscany region in central Italy)  a fuel tank exploded in an ENI fuel warehouse - as a result of the explosion, an office building collapsed. To date, it is known that the death toll from the explosion at the fuel depot has increased to four people. This became known after two bodies were recovered from the rubble, the local prosecutor's office reports.

It is also known about 26 wounded and 1 Missing.

As a result of the explosion, a strong fire broke out.

Yesterday, the coordination rescue center met in the prefecture, and the city council urged citizens to keep their windows closed within a 5-kilometer radius and not approach the site of the explosion, where a very high column of black smoke rose .

Subsequently, the prefecture of Florence reported that the "It Alert", which was announced due to the risk of contamination after the explosion, was canceled. 

Initial investigations indicate that there was a liquid leak before the explosion.
