Former mayor of Tbilisi's account blocked for traveling in a bus as a “hare”

In Georgia, a bank froze the accounts of opposition politician Gigi Ugulava for failing to pay a fine for fare evasion on a bus. A few hours later, the accounts were released.
In Georgia, a bank has arrested the accounts of the opposition politician, former mayor of Tbilisi Gigi Ugulava, UNN reports with reference to Novosti Georgia.
According to Ugulava, the reason for the blocking of the accounts was the failure to pay a fine for fare evasion on August 24 this year on a bus in the Vazisubani district of Tbilisi.
Ugulava claims that he did not take the bus to Wazisubani with or without a ticket.
"They offered to appeal the fine. Now I have to deal with this absurdity. As if I have nothing else to do," said the former mayor. He added that he was very sorry that "the city hall, which I loved so much, was turned into one big bureaucratic chaos.
A few hours later, Ugulava reported that the bank had lifted the seizure of the account.

Ugulava was the mayor of Tbilisi from 2005 to 2013 and one of the most active members of Saakashvili's team. After the change of power in Georgia, he was accused of misappropriation of funds and abuse of power, and was sentenced to 9 years, with the term reduced under an amnesty.
Upon his release, Ugulava joined the European Georgia party. However, after the 2020 parliamentary elections, he left this party and now actively supports the National Movement again. He actively traveled around Georgia during the election campaign.
