First in Ukraine: a factory-kitchen for catering in educational institutions opened in Kyiv region

A catering factory has opened in the Kyiv region, where up to 10,000 meals a day can be prepared. Another similar facility is planned to open soon in the Kharkiv region.

As part of the reform of of school meals, the first factory kitchen in Ukraine has been opened in Kyiv region. to prepare food for schools. This was reported by the Ministry of Health, UNN reports.

Factory kitchen will operate in Bucha, and from the beginning of next year, it will start preparing lunches for educational institutions of the three surrounding communities of Bucha, Nemishayevo, and Borodyanka. At the factory will be able to prepare up to 10,000 meals a day.

It is noted that the second factory kitchen will be built in Lozova, Kharkiv region. It will be possible to cook there daily about 14 thousand meals a day for students and preschoolers in five communities of the Lozova district.

The patron of the project was the American philanthropist and businessman Howard Buffett, who attended the the opening of the factory kitchen together with First Lady Olena Zelenska, who was the who initiated the project.

In October 2023 , the government adopted the Strategy for Reforming the School Nutrition System until 2027. It is expected that the implementation of the strategy will improve the conditions for organizing high-quality, safe balanced nutrition in educational institutions.
