Roberto Cavalli is one of the most famous names in Italian fashion in the world.

Cavalli was a non-conformist artist who made Made in Italy clothing known worldwide as spectacular, rich in animal prints and denim. He was called the "king of animalism".

A fashion artist in love with life and women, to whom he gave a caustic, free and unconventional sensuality.

For reference

Born on November 15, 1940 in Florence, Cavalli grew up in a family of artists (his grandfather Giuseppe Rossi was a representative of the Tuscan Macchiarioli movement). The future world-famous fashion designer began his studies in his hometown at the State Institute of Arts, specializing in textile decor.

In 1970, he made his fashion debut in Paris with his first Roberto Cavalli collection, where he offered his leather patchwork pieces created in collaboration with Neapolitan designer Mario Valentino. Two years later, he showed in his native Florence, at the Palazzo Pitti, where the Italian pret-a-porter presentations were held in those years, and presented his take on artistic denim.

Florence was close to the artist all his life. When all the major fashion designers moved to the new fashion center of Milan in the late seventies, Cavalli decided to stay in Florence. He lived in the countryside, devoting himself to his family and his beloved horses, and worked quite moderately.

Roberto Cavalli's stylistic legacy continues today. His fashion house is run by Fausto Puglisi, a Messina-based designer who was chosen to take over the creative direction of the brand in October 2020. Prior to him, the fashion house also had the stylistic signature of Ivan Mispelere, Peter Dundas and Paul Surridge. A succession of reputable names that seemingly only since Fausto Puglisi have led the brand to a new stability in perception and aesthetics: always and only in the unique and irreplaceable sign of the iconic prints of the "King of Animalism".
