Law enforcers detained an FSB agent who was operating in Odesa region. He was tracking the locations of the Defense Forces and adjusting enemy attacks on them. He was also “hunting” for relay cabinets of Ukrzaliznytsia and preparing sabotage at transport infrastructure facilities. This was reported by the SBU press service, UNN reports.
Details
According to the SBU, the FSB agent was tracking the locations of the Defense Forces and launching missile and drone attacks against them. Among the enemy's priority targets were air defense positions protecting the city's airspace.
Another area of activity of the defendant was the destruction of relay cabinets of Ukrzaliznytsia. Reportedly, this primarily involved the arson of semaphores on important sections of railroad traffic.
After the first arson attack on one of these cabinets, the SBU detained the agent in hot pursuit.
According to law enforcement, the suspect was preparing to commit new acts of sabotage at transport infrastructure facilities.
According to the investigation, the detainee was a 39-year-old local resident who was a member of the FSB's agent apparatus and had been staying in Russia, where his father lives, for a long time.
The defendant came to the attention of the occupiers even before the start of the full-scale war, when he registered for military service in Krasnodar to obtain a Russian passport.
On the eve of the full-scale war, the man returned to Ukraine, where he was later remotely contacted by the FSB and involved in subversive activities.
During the searches in the detainee's apartment, two F-1 combat grenades and a cell phone with evidence of criminal actions were found.
SBU investigators served him a notice of suspicion under three articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- part 2 of Article 111 (high treason committed under martial law);
- Art. 113(2) (sabotage committed under martial law);
- Art. 263, para. 1 (illegal acquisition and storage of ammunition).
The offender is in custody. He faces life imprisonment.
