Britain's expansion of its own ammunition production comes amid British and European companies refusing to purchase American equipment. They fear that due to Donald Trump's actions, the US has become an unreliable partner.
By summer, the British defence industry will increase production of 155mm shells 16-fold. This exceeds the figures for 2023 and aims to meet the demand caused by the Russian-Ukrainian war.
Previously, BAE Systems primarily imported RDX explosive from the USA and France.
