Britain will sharply increase ammunition production, replacing imports from the US - The Times

The British defence industry will sharply increase its capabilities for producing explosives and ammunition, particularly 155mm shells, to reduce dependence on supplies from the USA and France. This is reported by The Times, according to UNN.

Details

Special cargo containers will be installed throughout Great Britain  for the production of RDX explosive. It is used for the production of 155mm ammunition.

Britain's expansion of its own ammunition production comes amid British and European companies refusing to purchase American equipment. They fear that due to Donald Trump's actions, the US has become an unreliable partner.

By summer, the British defence industry will increase production of 155mm shells 16-fold. This exceeds the figures for 2023 and aims to meet the demand caused by the Russian-Ukrainian war.

Previously, BAE Systems primarily imported RDX explosive from the USA and France.

Recall

Great Britain and Norway will allocate 450 million pounds sterling to finance the supply of drones, radar systems, and anti-tank mines to Ukraine.
