As indicated by the Romanian Ministry of Defense, "the sea drone discovered this morning, June 5, in the civilian port of Constanța, near the headquarters of the Romanian Agency for Saving Human Life at Sea, self-detonated around 10:30 AM without causing any casualties."
According to the Romanian Ministry of Defense, "the area is already cordoned off and isolated by forces from the Romanian Intelligence Service, the Coast Guard, and the Ministry of National Defense, and the object was in the process of assessment and securing at that time."
The sea drone belongs to a type used in the war in Ukraine
"We would like to clarify that the object is not part of the Romanian Army's equipment and was not involved in recent exercises organized by the Ministry of National Defense in the Black Sea. The situation is dynamic, and we will return with information and official data as soon as they become available," the Romanian defense department stated.
