A scheme involving 1,500 people who were "written off" from military registration has been exposed in Zakarpattia; the former head of the Mukachevo Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center is implicated

In Zakarpattia region, a scheme was uncovered under which more than 1,500 people were "removed" from the military register, while attempts were made to destroy the documents, according to suspicions against the former head of the Mukachevo District Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center and his subordinate; 17 searches were conducted, and two former officials were notified of suspicion, Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko reported, UNN writes.

More than 1,500 people were illegally "removed" from the military register. Attempts were made to destroy the documents. As part of the "The Other Side of the Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Centers and Military Medical Commissions" program, a large-scale scheme to unlawfully remove conscripts from the register, which operated in 2022–2024, was uncovered in Zakarpattia

According to the investigation, "it was organized by the then head of the Mukachevo District Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center and his subordinate, who was responsible for military registration and reservations," the Prosecutor General stated.

"The mechanism was effectively put into mass operation. False information was entered into military registration, medical and other official documents, on the basis of which men were declared unfit for military service without legal grounds. They charged between USD 5,000 and 10,000 for this "service." At least 1,577 people were unlawfully removed from the military register in this way. 1,142 of them allegedly on health grounds. And when the threat of exposure arose, they began getting rid of the evidence," the Prosecutor General continued.

In August 2024, according to the Prosecutor General, "the then head of the Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center, according to the investigation, prepared a fictitious act on the seizure and destroyed certificates, Military Medical Commission decisions and other medical documentation. Documents that, by law, were required to be kept for 75 years."

"But destroying documents does not mean destroying the evidence," he emphasized. "Investigators restored the necessary information using data from the National Health Service of Ukraine, witness statements, expert examination results and other materials. To date, 120 people have already been reinstated on the military register. The review concerning the others is ongoing."

According to the Prosecutor General, 17 searches were conducted at the premises of current and former employees of the Mukachevo District Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center, members of Military Medical Commissions and other individuals involved.

Two former officials were notified of suspicion of obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during a special period. Prosecutors will insist on detention without an alternative. The investigation is ongoing.
