The fire broke out in the afternoon in the Krokstadelva area. Initially, one townhouse caught fire, but the flames quickly spread to neighboring houses and adjacent areas.
As of the evening, the fire could not be contained. Police Chief Frode Presthus stated that the fire could be brought under control only in a few hours or even the next day.
