Oleksandr Syrskyi is leaving the post of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He is handing over an army that has gone on the offensive and liberated 700 square kilometers of territory.

Oleksandr Syrskyi announced his resignation as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, stating that he is handing over to his successor "an army that not only holds the defense but is also in a state of offensive" and this year liberated 700 square kilometers of territory, reports UNN.

Today I am leaving the post of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

- wrote Syrskyi on social media.

"Before handing over command," he summed up the results of his tenure. Noting in particular that "I do not have the right to talk about some of the operations we carried out during these years even today. History will tell about them. I will only say: the enemy remembers them."

"And about the main thing — in what condition I am handing over the battlefield. This year, under my command, 700 square kilometers of our land have been liberated. The army that two years ago was conducting a difficult defense is now on the offensive," he noted.

"I am handing over to my successor an army that not only holds the defense but is also in a state of offensive — with initiative, with structure, with people who know how to strike the enemy. And I sincerely hope that this offensive will continue. Everything is in place for that," Syrskyi emphasized.

He stated: "I said this before and I will repeat it today: my job is war. Positions change, but this principle does not. Whatever status I hold, I will serve Ukraine until Victory."

"For a long time, they tried to impose on us that Ukrainians are not capable of fighting. We have proven that this is not true. Ukraine is defended by a heroic people. Our country will endure if everyone does their job as diligently as the Ukrainian military does. Glory to Ukraine!" he said.
