The United States has not yet made a final decision on the withdrawal of up to 10,000 troops from Eastern Europe. There is a corresponding initiative, but there is no command to act yet. This was stated by a Pentagon representative in a comment to Polish TVP, reports UNN.

Details

The withdrawal of American troops from Jasionka in Poland coincided in time with the information published by the American media that the United States is considering the possibility of withdrawing up to 10,000 troops from Eastern Europe.

This caused a lively discussion among the leaders of the EU member states, because America's NATO allies, as well as the defense of Europe, are not ready for such demarches by the American partner.

The military structure is currently under review, but no decision has been made yet. American commitment to NATO is strong, but the US expects European allies to lead the defense of Europe

- TVP was told in the press service of the Pentagon.

The answer is not unambiguous, but it gives some reassurance, the publication notes.

Polish President Andrzej Duda, Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Minister of Defense of the country Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysh also spoke in a similar tone. All three clearly emphasized that in the case of Jasionka, it is only about the redeployment of American units, and not about the withdrawal of American forces from Poland.

Dave Overson, spokesman for the US Army Command in Europe and Africa (USAREUR-AF), said that due to the need to maintain operational security, he cannot provide detailed information about when and where the equipment will be moved from Jasionka near Rzeszów.

The General Staff of the Polish Army also commented on the changes in the management structure of the Jasionka airport.

It is recalled that the new deployment of "separate units of the US Army stationed in Poland is the result of plans adopted after the NATO summit in Washington."

The Rzeszów-Jasionka infrastructure was developed to meet the needs of allied support for Ukraine within the NSATU mission (NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine). Separate US units that were previously located at Rzeszów-Jasionka HAB are being moved to other military bases operating in Poland, while optimizing maintenance costs. Support for Ukraine in the form of donations, training and intelligence is provided on an ongoing basis basis

- emphasized in the General Staff of the Polish Army.

Let us remind you

The US is moving military equipment and personnel from Jasionka in Poland, but aid to Ukraine will continue. The decision was made to optimize operations and support partners.
