The reasons for the displacement are violence, conflict and the effects of climate change, explained the German partner organization of the UN Refugee Agency. It is noted that Syria remains “the world's largest displacement crisis” as 13.8 million people are displaced within and outside the country. The majority of Syrian refugees live in the neighboring countries of Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq, while others have taken refuge in Europe and beyond.
The military conflict in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon has resulted in the forced displacement of more than 1.7 million people.
