More than 150,000 people crossed the border of Ukraine every day before Christmas, 80% of whom were Ukrainians. Currently, passenger traffic is at the level of 100-115 thousand people per day, with a preference for leaving the country.

Passenger traffic at the border of Ukraine is showing dynamic changes, with record numbers of more than 150,000 people crossing the border daily during the holidays.

This was stated by the State Border Guard Service spokesman Andriy Demchenko during a telethon, UNN reports .

Over the past week, cargo traffic has decreased, which is due to the Christmas and New Year period, and it is not advisable to carry out such logistics transportation

- Demchenko said. 

According to him, the number of cargo shipments is likely to increase after the New Year.

“As for passenger traffic, it is quite dynamic. Now we see that it is at the level of 100-115 thousand people entering and leaving, yesterday it was 115 thousand. On Christmas Day itself, passenger traffic was at the level of 68 people per day,” added Demchenko.

He noted that record passenger traffic figures were recorded before Christmas.

In the days before Christmas, more than 150 thousand people crossed the border to enter and leave Ukraine. Over the past 3 days, the majority of people have been leaving Ukraine

Demchenko emphasized that 80% of people crossing the border are Ukrainians.

In the first 11 months of 2024, 32.3 million people crossed the border of Ukraine, slightly less than in the same period last year. The flow in the entry and exit directions remained balanced. At the same time, 55 thousand citizens were denied entry.
