American blogger and ally of US President Donald Trump, Laura Loomer, stated that after a trip to Ukraine she completely reconsidered her attitude toward the war and urged American conservatives not to succumb to the influence of Russian propaganda. In an interview with the agency, which due to an air raid alert had to be conducted in a hotel shelter in Kyiv, Loomer said that after visiting frontline areas in eastern Ukraine, she realized that she herself had previously fallen victim to false information.
"You don't need to listen to podcasters and let them shape your opinion about a country. You can look at the facts yourself," Loomer said.
She also indicated that she continues to maintain close contact with US President Donald Trump. After the interview with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, they have already spoken by phone, and after returning to the US, she expects to meet personally with the American leader.
The Associated Press notes that Loomer's change in position was positively received by the Ukrainian authorities, but caused surprise and discussions among some American conservatives. At the same time, the blogger emphasized that Ukraine is not funding her trip.
On the eve of the planned meeting between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Washington, Loomer expressed optimism about Ukraine's prospects.
"It looks like everything is working out well for Ukraine, doesn't it? The meeting next week in the Oval Office looks very promising," she said.
