This week, the European Commission is expected to approve a draft negotiation framework for Ukraine's accession to the European Union.

Details

Today, March 11, is the deadline for us to provide any additional information. Actually, on March 12, 13, 14, the European Commission has to make a decision. First of all, it is to approve the report on our fulfillment of the additional criteria and decide whether to provide a negotiating framework for the member states to approve. Therefore, this week is crucial

- Stefanishyna said.

She noted that today MPs gathered at a meeting of the Law Enforcement Committee to approve the last legislative act needed to finalize the recommendations on lobbying.

According to her, the MPs adopted amendments to administrative legislation that introduce liability for violation of the lobbying legislation that was adopted earlier.

Therefore, we are cautiously optimistic and will work intensively with the capitals after this decision. I want us all to understand that we are already in the negotiation process. We have started the official screening process. The negotiation framework is a document that is important first of all for the European Commission, so that they have their hands free to move forward, and the Belgian Prime Minister, Mr. de Kroo, has expressed his intention that by the end of the Belgian presidency, the first intergovernmental conference will be held, where the first negotiating chapters are already opened, which means that we should be ready for this

 ," Stefanishyna said.

The Vice Prime Minister emphasized that Ukraine needs to keep up the progress, as the European Commission is responsible for many countries, so it tends to stretch the process.

Ukraine has a high capacity and is moving very dynamically, and we cannot afford to let this happen. That's why we are consistently pressing to make timely decisions

- She added.
