A court has found a resident of the Vinnytsia region guilty of intentionally causing a road traffic accident due to a conflict with his former partner. Five people were injured in the crash, including three minors. The man was sentenced to 12 years in prison. This was reported by the Prosecutor General's Office, according to UNN.

Prosecutors proved in court that the defendant had been in a long-standing conflict with his former partner based on jealousy and had repeatedly threatened her, specifically stating that he would provoke a car accident while she was driving

In May 2024, the woman was driving her car to school. Her 14-year-old daughter, two teenage acquaintances aged 15 and 17, and a 60-year-old man were also in the vehicle.

According to the case files, the man carried out his threats and intentionally rammed his own car into the side of the victim's vehicle. The impact caused the car to veer off the road and overturn.

As a result of the accident, the driver and four passengers sustained bodily injuries of varying degrees of severity. Following a series of forensic examinations that confirmed attempted murder, the man was served with a notice of suspicion in November 2025

The court sentenced him to 12 years of imprisonment. He remained in custody during the pre-trial investigation and court proceedings. The convict did not plead guilty.
